Angels are among us. It’s true. I’ve met them. Heck, I’ve seen them. There’s the people who hand a bag of groceries outside their car window to someone on the side of road with a sign: “Need Food.” And the person who gives $10 to someone in front of them at grocery to finish paying their bill. Maybe, it’s as simple as smile to a complete stranger that lights their day. Yes, those people are angels, people who make a positive difference in someone’s life.
Then there are those who are true angels, those who come down from the ethereal and become human for a moment in time.
Early on my spiritual journey, I worked as a freelance writer for the Lake Edition of the Orlando Sentinel. I wrote mostly feature articles on people, school happenings and other community events. One of my regular weekly columns was a spotlight, which included walking up to strangers, asking questions and taking their photograph. I was at one of my regular haunts, the Lady Lake Library when I saw this elderly man reading the newspaper. I asked if he would participate in the spotlight and he said no. I thought it was odd because I had this gift of just knowing who would do it and ultimately make a great feature. Imagine that. LOL. Moments later like 10 feet in front of him this woman came up to me, put her arm around me and said she thought that man would make a great spotlight. I agreed. I felt like she knew him. She encouraged me to go back, so I did. He said he couldn’t hear what I said the first time. I turned my back for a split second and she was gone. I raced up and down the aisles to find her and near the entrance of the library I asked the person behind the desk if they had seen a woman with long golden blonde hair with a beautiful tan. She had not noticed her and no else had either. I made my way back to the elderly man and asked if he had seen the woman I was talking with just a few feet in front of him, and he said he hadn’t and that he would surely remember someone that pretty, if he had. During the interview, I learned that his wife and life partner since high school had recently died. He shared stories about her that made my heart smile. When I left him, he seemed much lighter. I wondered if that woman could’ve been an angel. Later that night I went to my mediumship class and shared the experience with everyone. We decided she was indeed an angel. A few days later in mediation she appeared on my clairvoyant screen, miniature sized. When our eyes met, she disappeared just like that day. Poof! She was gone from sight. It was a confirmation.
Rise above the chaos. Do your best not to live there. Rise above it. Your act of kindness will make a difference no matter how large or small.
Acts of kindness are angelic – not so much the acts, but the results. Please Do! Blessings!
Here I am again taking a look at lower level vibrations. Perhaps, reminding me of where I do not want to live. Last week it was anger. This week it’s fear. I kind of toyed on the edge of it because I really wasn’t in fear; however my thoughts went there momentarily.
I went to my P.O. Box the other day and retrieved my mail, just like any other time. A manila envelope caught my eye. It had a folded piece of notebook paper stapled to the front of it with the return name and address and my name, Lori Carter, with the Bookstore address on it. Remember, this is Mayberry (Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp) everyone knows everyone including the mail clerk. It looked like a little kid had written it. Underneath the paper, it read: ‘the kids.’ And the back was sealed with a Disney sticker. Okay, so I’m a writer and came up with many scenarios. I really think I’ve been watching way too many NCIS episodes on Netflix. LOL I open it. There’s one piece of paper that is addressed to me. It reads: ‘My name is . . . ‘and I’m writing to you to ask for help. I have had the same nightmare and I’m scared. If you can please call me. I can tell you what happens in the nightmare. Sincerely. . .’ I hesitated to call. I looked up the address online and couldn’t find it. The next day I showed a friend and she found the address and more information, so I decided it was legit. I called later that day. The voice sounded like a young girl and I asked if she had sent a letter to me. She said no and hung up. I thought I called the wrong number at first. I called again. This time it went to voicemail. I left a message. Just the oddest thing. I still have the letter and envelope.
And then on Friday, I had a conversation with an elderly woman about religion while we waited for our vehicles to be vacuumed and wiped down. She said this place was farther away from home, but liked the service. She lived in Orange City and asked where I lived. I said Lake Helen first, but then thought better of it. ‘I live in Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. I’m a medium there.’ She replied: ‘I’m a Christian.’ I said, ‘I don’t talk religion.’ She then started talking about her God and how he forgives those who sin. I said, ‘My God is the same as yours.’ Drum roll. She asked if Jesus was my Savior. I said, ‘No.’ ‘Who is he to you?’ My reply: ‘He was the greatest prophet and healer of his time.’ And then I explained to her during Constantine times there was The First Council of Nicaea where the heads of church got together and put together the Bible, and that I believed it was done to control the masses. She thought about it. Finally she said being a Spiritualist is ‘better than being Muslim,’ and walked out the door. I could not believe my ears. Yes, this really happened to me. I just don’t understand why people cannot coexist peacefully. Blessings!
People are angry. I can feel it and see it. I’m sure a lot of you do too. Anger is an emotion that can be controlled.
Remember, I don’t watch the news, and yes, at times I must make my way out of Mayberry – Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. On the way out the other morning, I was greeted by a beautiful rainbow. I pulled my vehicle into the Bookstore parking lot, hopped out and took a few pics. What a way to start the morning. I continued on my way down Cassadaga Road, a winding, scenic road. The rainbow followed. Or perhaps, I chased it. I wondered if I could find the spot where it touched the ground. Now I’m at the stop sign. Did I mention it’s about 7 a.m.? A driver coming from my left in the right turn lane saw the rainbow too. He pulled off to the side and grabbed his camera. I could not see the oncoming traffic. Next thing I know someone is honking at me. I’m like this is not I-4 – calm down. I rolled my window down to wave to the person. She tried to get around me. I inched forward, so I could see beyond the vehicle that was off to the side. Good thing I did. I had to wait for a car to go by. I then was able to move forward. This all took less than a minute. And of course, the driver was stopped at the same light I was. I could not believe this just occurred.
It’s true – I was once a person who flipped an occasional finger to rude drivers and maybe said a few explicities. As I grew on my spiritual path, I now sent people peace signs. One time I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a woman laughing at the gentleman driver.
My new found growth was put to the test and still is at times. I was on the way to speak at a church in Kissimmee. I left like two hours early for the one hour trip. I-4 turned into a nightmare. I was diverted along with hundreds of others. I prayed I would make it. I called the church and they said not to worry. I did get a little hyper a couple of times. I just don’t understand why people cannot remain calm; take turns. We’re all going somewhere. We’re all in this together. Let’s get out of it together. By the time I made it to church, the service had already started. I used the restroom, walked to the podium and spoke. My topic: Overcoming Challenges. LOL. Oh boy, did I have a story to share with them. Everyone laughed when I said I made it without one curse word. LOL
Why do people react the way they do? Maybe it’s their upbringing; maybe they just spilled coffee on their suit pants; maybe they’re running late for work. There’s many reasons why we do what we do. Isn’t it time that we stop and think before doing?
The Golden Rule is something to live by and it just so happens it’s one of the Principles of Spiritualism. In fact, it’s pretty much in every religion that ever existed. Slow down and think about what is really important.
Mayberry it is! Blessings!
P.S. Just after writing this I saw a quote on Facebook by Yehuda Berg – “Remember: everything in your life is there for one reason and one reason only; to offer you the opportunity to grow.”
Love the synchronicity!
Have you ever ran into someone you know and have never met? This happens all the time. I’ve had clients come to my office in Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp that I’m sure I’ve met before. ‘You look familiar’ is what I say. And most times than not, they agree. Sometimes I say, ‘Or maybe I saw you in a dream, saw you coming for the reading. Heck, I’ve probably given the reading already.’ We laugh. I like to joke it off. It keeps the mood light. Maybe, it was a dream, but more than likely a past life recognition. Remember, everything is energy. We recognize what we know.
I love this story that I’m about to tell you. It’s about a very good friend, spiritual teacher. We loved and laughed about the story again today as she retold it for this column.
This happened in the Bookstore of the Spiritualist Camp, a place she worked many, many years ago. Now mind you she was married at the time and still is to the love of her life. But that one day in the Bookstore will never be forgotten. A Native-American man about 6’ 2” came into the store and my friend said, ‘You’re Crazy Horse.’ Gotta love that. She grabbed onto him and did not want to let him go. He was wearing a suit and tie. They agreed that neither knew one another. A friend nearby teased that she had lost her mind. The man who was now holding on to her said, ‘I felt something. You were shorter than me then too.’ He promptly got goosebumps and continued: ‘I can’t believe it was you. I always said I would find you this lifetime.’ He shared with her that he had driven past the Bookstore many times. He even stopped and sat on the porch several times. He never went in. Finally that day he decided to go in at closing time. They held each other for about 20 minutes and he went on his way.
That story is so amazing to me. Does this only happen in Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp? It’s kind of fun to think so. But I’m sure those who are awake have these experiences daily. One has to first realize what is truth? We’re on a planet suspended in a solar system. We must understand that we will meet people who are in our soul group. I know I’ve talked about this before. A soul group includes family, friends and once in a lifetime meetings. We make sacred contracts with those in our soul group to help us learn life lessons, so we are able to evolve. There could be 10s of thousands of people in a soul group. Even though we have sacred contracts with people in our soul group before we incarnate, those contracts do not have to be fulfilled. It’s all about freewill on this earth plane. But isn’t it great to meet someone from a past life. Blessings!
When I was in the student program in Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp, I used to go on the Saturday night orb tour in the Camp. It starts at 7:30 p.m. on the porch of the Bookstore. It was either that or a séance, both intriguing in their own way.
Orbs are said to be how Spirit travels. I love this notion. I’ll always be a skeptic. It’s healthy when dealing with type of phenomena.
On one particular occasion, I was on the tour and the group walked by Blackhawk Park. A person next to me was looking at a photo she took. I looked, too. A Native-American in full headdress could be seen in the photograph. How cool is that?
After a while, I saw orbs with my eyes, so I no longer went on the tour. It’s a great starting point. The first time I saw an orb with my eyes was at a friend’s house, which was a couple of miles from the Camp. I was sitting and chatting with her in the living room. I looked beyond her and saw an orb. She asked, ‘Do you see the face in the orb?’
First of all I was amazed she knew exactly what I was looking at, and as if on cue, a Spirit face with hair appeared in the orb. I was amazed.
These days it’s not unusual for me to see orbs while driving down the road. It’s usually around 7:30 p.m. The other day I was driving away from the beach, hundreds of orbs danced about. My friend also saw them. I get so excited every time that happens. There’s more to this 3D world than meets eye.
One of my Spiritual teachers is big into phenomena. I sat in a phenomena circle for 18 months. It met same time, same place with generally the same people once weekly. Lots of rapping and spirit lights going on there. The teacher channeled high spiritual beings that shared knowledge. Afterward, photos were taken around him. Yep, you guessed it – orbs galore.
One teaching I got from him and will share here is about meditation. If you are growing your gifts, meditation is a must. I know I have preached this over and over again. Decide where you’re going to meditate and take a picture of that space. After eight weeks meditating daily in the same space at the same time, take a picture of that space. There should be orbs there.
Here’s a fun little story. That teacher’s wife loves to blow bubbles. It’s great because it lightens the mood. One night she stood by Colby Memorial Temple with this large wand that made huge bubbles. After letting a few go, she and her husband heard people up the street screaming in excitement that they could see orbs coming of the street. LOL
Seriously though, orbs are a way for Spirit to get around. More importantly it’s a starting point for nonbelievers. Here’s a great pic of a couple of orbs in plane daylight with myself and two others. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1495063134047186&set=pob.100006305411571&type=3&theater.
You cannot make this stuff up. Well, I guess some people do. But why? Blessings!
A lot of times when people come to me for a reading they don’t know what to expect. Who can blame them? The way being a medium is portrayed on television and in the movies isn’t always an accurate depiction.
I am blessed to be a certified medium in Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp, which is in Volusia County. The nearest town is Lake Helen. People come to the Spiritualist Camp daily to see what it’s all about.
When someone calls for a reading, I first ask if they’ve ever had a reading with a medium. My spiel continues: ‘I connect with Spirit around you, give you evidence of that Spirit – I see what they look like, personality traits, the way of passing, possibly shared experiences, or other types of evidence – and life guidance. I also can give psychic information.’ I tell them I’m a clairvoyant, I see, I feel, I know and at times hear. Most importantly I tell them ‘if you are looking to hear from one particular Spirit, I cannot guarantee that. It’s not the way it works.’
If the possible client makes it through all of that, they come to my office or make a future appointment.
Being a medium is so very rewarding. I love to help people. We all need help at times. It’s super hard to remember readings, unless there is something unique about them. I had a couple come in for a reading. Yes, they made it through the spiel. Normally, I don’t do couple readings, but they were married for like 15 years. It was mostly for her, though. I saw a toddler running and swimming and that’s all I kept seeing. I described her and finally, the woman told me that her daughter had choked on a piece of food a week earlier and died. I looked for more evidence. The child finally showed me the letters L and O. I said it must have been on her bedroom wall. The mother broke down in tears. God bless that family!
On a lighter note, I did my first reading on camera for a YouTube channel. I have to admit I was a little nervous. There were three extra people in my room – two cameramen and a public relations committee member. Imagine all the Spirits that came with them. The reading was going great. The recipient connected with the Spirits I brought through. Out of nowhere I said something about Rome. I said, ‘You must be going to Rome.’ The PR committee member freaked. I saw her out of the corner of my eye. The recipient brought her hands close to her face and said, ‘Oh my God’ and explained that she would be going there. And then a few minutes later I said something about Africa. The same reaction all the way around. Thank you Spirit!
I wrote a BLOG earlier whether it’s mediumship or psychic information. The latter would be getting the information from the aura. Mediumship is connecting with Spirit. When I get images, I believe they come from Spirit. It’s always a wonderment, though. I love that God has given me these gifts to help others. It is a true Blessing!
When I go out into the real world, it is an adventure. I’m at friend’s house, alone, and it is nice. Before she left, she turned the television on, which is tuned into one of her favorite channels. I don’t like the monotone voice, so I changed the channel. I was excited that I was able to get the guide up and look for something to watch. In moments, something happened and the TV signal was lost. It’s OK. I already saw it wasn’t gonna work. LOL.
I love getting away from it all. I do have to take time out for myself, collect my thoughts. I’m beachside again, well two blocks from the beach. The beach is my place. I so love it.
I walked to the beach yesterday and now today and will for my remaining days here. I actually went twice today, Friday. To get to the beach, I have to cross A1A. Yikes! So on my way the second time today, I stood at the corner and waited patiently. I could walk down a country mile (LOL) to the lights, but no the beach is right across the street. I stood there for what seemed like five minutes. I said out loud ‘Mother, Father, God, Infinite Spirit, please help me get across this street.’ Seconds later a young man was at my side. We walked together and yes traffic stopped. I was amazed. We continued to walk. A car and a large bus came to a halt. I said, ‘I cannot believe this bus stopped.’ The young man smiled and I said, ‘I just said a prayer to cross this street and you showed up.’ Again, he smiled. And I said, ‘I love that.’ And I do. On the way back there was no traffic at all.
It’s interesting how people show up in our lives. You know there is some reason – a lesson or a blessing. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been stopped at the store or while waiting in line when someone tells me their life story. It’s like I have the word healer written on my forehead. Or you meet someone who is disguised as a friend, but only needs healing. It’s OK. I get it. How many of you mediums and healers out there have had this happen to you? On one hand, wouldn’t it be great to just have a ‘normal’ friendship with someone, whatever normal is, but on the other hand, it’s wonderful to help others through their situations.
Healers help without even trying, just their presence is healing. It’s important that healers always remember to let go of energy processed during healing. I usually send it through my body out my feet into the ground. As healers to include mediums, we must remember to take care of ourselves, take time out. Alone time is so needed. Schedule it if you must. Receive healings from the universe during meditation, sleep states and a few chosen healers who are in tune with my vibration. Don’t forget about you! Blessings!
If you want it, manifest it. It’s all in the attitude. See it. Know it. And it will happen. It’s all in your belief system. Believe it with 100 percent of your thought, your being. Have no doubt.
What is it that you are trying to manifest? Is it for you? The greater good? Or simply to assist in your everyday life?
Today, I’m like, what it’s Friday? What happened to Tuesday through Thursday? Hmm. So today, I’m like I have got to get inspired for this column. I had the idea of manifesting the other day, but wasn’t totally there. I thought to look up quotes, a great place for inspiration. Then I noticed I needed to get to the Camp office to sign up for workshops I would be teaching in the coming season. I had my phone and my hard copy calendar in hand. I did forget my purple pen, though. I asked the office manager if she had a purple pen. She said if there was one in the office, she would have had it long ago. I looked around. She walked over to the supply cabinet and said something about her “finding fairies.” I sat down with the activity director. The office manager showed up with a purple pen and said, “My finding fairies rock!” I love that. She knew it could happen and so it did. I gave her the pen when I left.
Bigger things may take longer to manifest. Again, it’s all in your thought process. Believe it. See it into existence.
First, one must know exactly what they want. Decide what you want. Make a plan. Be exact. But be open to how the final result will come about, just know that it will. Don’t share what you want to manifest with others, unless you know that they are willing to help manifest it.
Imagine, a group of people manifesting the same thing. Perfect example was the Mother’s Day Tea at Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. We believed it would be sold out and it was plus a few more. The next event is the Father’s Day Picnic/Cookout, which includes creating homes for our fairies, gnomes and sprites on our Fairy Trail. One person said we won’t sell that out. And I said don’t say that. Last night we had the committee meeting and we decided that the event would sell out.
On a much larger note, each of us truly has the responsibility of taking care of our planet. We can do this by sending energy to heal everyone and everything. It starts with ourselves. Then, it grows. If every single person on this earth plane believed, truly believed, we could heal this planet and this world we live in. It could happen. Here’s one. We create the world we live in with our thoughts. Think about that.
Blessings of peace!

Monday morning was a new day. I woke up and everything had changed. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but there was a subtle change. I spent Friday through Sunday out of town – about five hours from the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. The break on the beach was just what I needed.
What was so different about that Monday? A feeling, a feeling of like wonderment, a feeling like something good was right around the corner. It was odd. I thought perhaps it was an adjustment period of reacquainting myself with the energy that so freely flows in the Spiritualist Camp. I went to the gym, per usual and then did my volunteer gig at the Camp office. Even then things weren’t quite jiving. I decided to go shopping, get some new clothes. I had a few readings on Tuesday, the first in five days. Things went well. Still, there was an odd energy about everything. I wondered if my guides changed. They do at times. For every new level attained, new guides present themselves. It was like I learned something new, perhaps it happened in my dream state. I just knew and felt something really good was on its way.
I was the message bearer at the Wednesday night service, so I didn’t take appointments that day, which was rare. On Thursday, one of the answers sat right in front of me. My first reading that day was for a woman who’s a best-selling author on Amazon. Yep, I knew it was coming. It’s time to finish writing my next book, “The Playground.” It’s been in progress for nearly three years. I started working on it again a few months back. I was making headway when my computer crashed. Thankfully, all was saved. It broke my stride, though.
Backstory: I’m a freelance writer – most times for newspapers and for a short period of time magazines. I’d procrastinate at times, but always made the deadline. I had a whole month to write a 4,000 word story for a magazine. I waited until the night before it was due to write it. It took three hours.
I do have writing guides. It makes sense. We all have guides for our chosen field – a higher knowledge that comes in and takes over. One time I really didn’t like the story that I was to write. I repeated ‘I love this story,’ and prayed for my writing guides to assist. They did. Another time in a guided meditation during class, I met one of my writing guides. At the end of the meditation, we were instructed to see a feather. Mine was quill with someone who looked like Benjamin Franklin. The funny thing was a week or two later I wrote a story on a descendant of Benjamin Franklin, looked like him too.
It’s not like I’m not busy. I have spent a lot of time volunteering as the public relations chair for the Camp. The 125th anniversary kickoff is May 11. Lots of planning involved. Press releases were written and sent out. I have set up numerous interviews for coverage.
There’s a change in the air. My meditations have been absolutely fabulous.
Incidentally, while packing for my trip Friday, a slightly larger and meaner looking spider than the last appeared in my front room. I killed it. I have shoes, brooms and flyswatters strategically placed. One morning, I saw a spirit spider on the pillow next to me. So, I finally started reading again. Made some notes and bought a new notebook for the job. I’m ready to getter done. I know good things are coming. I believe it. I saw it. I see it.
I wonder if my writing guides have changed. This isn’t my normal BLOG. Just go with the flow. Live life.
