I get a little bit giddy when I get to do something new. A little butterfly feeling in my tummy. Don’t you?
Not too long ago, I was reminded that Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp is hosting the annual Mother’s Day Tea and somehow, I got myself into doing tea leaf readings. Exciting, right? On the way to the gathering to become educated about it, I asked my daughter if she wanted to come along. She said she already knew how to do to them. Of course, she does. I too like to learn as much as I can to assist my clients. How hard can it be? I’m a clairvoyant and see various messages in the clouds. This should not be an issue. But still the newness. Backstory: I’m not an artsy girl, but one time I went to a monthly craft gathering in the Camp and created a green and red jingly ornament for the holidays. People teased as they saw my box flying wide open. Good times! Back at the tea leaf gathering, we were led by the Rev. Dikki-Jo Mullen, one of the facilitators of the event. Thankfully, she brought the proper type of teacups since I drink my green tea out of a coffee mug. Dikki-Jo did readings for the three of us. First, you should be sure there is a proper amount of liquid and tea leaves in the cup. After checking that, we readers are to hand the cup back, so that the person receiving the reading can put their energy into it. It is then returned to the reader. The reader would spin the cup three times and place it upside down on the saucer. Then turn it back over to begin the reading. In one of the cups, you could see a distinct boot to include a heal, which indicated the recipient was walking away from something. It was awesome! A couple of us got dots, which is about money. Butterflies (change), birds (good news), flowers (good fortune) and much more appeared. I loved it! There’s more to the reading than just what appears in the tea leaves. A reader must take note as to where those symbols are – is it nearing the handle, toward the rim of the cup or at the bottom of the cup? And just in case an answer is not covered, each person will draw a Tea Leaf card to be given just a little bit more information. I do have a whole new vocabulary to learn, which is fine. I’m excited to do something different. When’s the last time you stepped out of your box? Incidentally, I still have that ornament, which is hung on my doorknob. It has been beaten up a bit, but it does remind me: Get out of your box, Lori. Say good-bye to your box!
