We are all gifted. Some of us have to work on it just a little harder than others. I would fall into that category. It’s OK because when you work just a little bit harder, it pays off in the end. I have been a psychic medium in Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp for seven years, eight toward the end of the year. I have clients on a regular basis and teach several online classes and workshops. It took a bit to build. As I told my students the other night, this round of eight classes does not make you ready to go out there and work as a professional medium. They chuckled. And then I laid it out. I have been sitting in development classes since 2004, two classes, sometimes three per week for 12 years, all with five different teachers and taking courses for at least one year with each of those teachers. That’s not even counting workshops facilitated by visiting mediums. Let’s talk about the student program in Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. It includes bookwork, independent study, public demonstrations for three to four years and some have taken more than six years. On a continuous basis, the Camp has people come in here asking what it takes to become a medium. Most are never to be seen again. Others have come in and backed out because they didn’t want to put the time in. Soon after, they say they are certified by another organization and have studied here in Cassadaga extensively. Really, what is extensively? Backstory: And worse, I have seen people dressed to the hilt and shoot videos in front of familiar mainstays in Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp to prove they were here or are affiliated in some way. It bugs me. It’s not ethical. On the other hand, I’ve been told that most other Spiritualist Camps, or Spiritualist organizations have very little or no respect for Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. So, to that end, I guess I should not let it bother me. Backstory: I had a fellow reporter friend who saw stories I wrote for the newspaper and turned around and wrote nearly the same story, on the same person for a magazine. My editor finally called that reporter’s editor. Some believe that I should’ve taken it as a compliment. I have lightened my mood about it over time, but back then it irked me. It also irks me when psychic mediums misrepresent themselves. In the end, how much does it really matter. . . Be the best you can be. Blessings of Peace and Love!
