‘a million different people from one day to the next’ is how I feel at times. The lyric is from “Bitter Sweet Symphony” by The Verve.
Some of us wear many caps in this world. When I think about who I potentially AM, I AM a woman, sister, daughter, mother, grammy, writer, journalist, psychic medium, teacher, friend. . . The labels we give ourselves do fit in our lives; they work. It’s what they have always been and always will be. Do these labels define us? The reason I bring up labels is because I was somewhat annoyed recently when I stepped out of my neighborhood for a night out. I’m constantly being told by my daughter and a few others that I need to get out. So, I went to this social gathering of witches. I must admit I was a little skeptical of the ‘label’ put on this gathering. Backstory: I went to a meetup years ago. It was a witch gathering of some sort. I thought some, not myself, might think a psychic medium is a witch. Once there, I heard these people talking about hexes and curses and how to do this and that. I put my white light up, ate and promptly left. And so, I go to this witch gathering hoping this is not what it will be. There were about 20 people there. We went around the room to introduce ourselves. More than a handful called themselves witches. The host plugged upcoming events. I did not realize this was to be a marketing/business meeting. Again, I’m out. A witch by one definition online: ‘A person thought to have magic powers, especially evil ones, popularly depicted as a woman wearing a black cloak and pointed hat and flying on a broomstick.’ What a hoot! Look at all those labels. If you’ve been following this blog, you know my go-to is ‘we are all powerful spiritual beings.’ Yes, this too, is a label. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time for all of us to just be. Peace
