Medium vs Psychic

What exactly is a Spiritualist Medium? More than likely it is not depicted correctly on television, or at least it wasn’t before. I gave up watching television long ago, especially news. I did see the first 30 minutes or so of Long Island Medium. I’m like really? Who walks up to people and tells them that their grandmother is around them?
Here’s the jest of it. A Medium is someone who communicates with the so-called dead. A Medium is also a Psychic. A Psychic is “a person believed to have abilities, especially. involving a knowledge of the future, that cannot be explained by modern science,” according to one definition. Some Psychics claim to read the aura around the person or client. This could be true. However, it is not my experience at this point.
To break it down, gifts include clairvoyance (seeing), clairsentience (feeling), clairaudience (hearing), clairgustance (tasting and smelling) and claircognizance (knowing). Some people believe these are only Psychic gifts. They are not.
I see, feel, hear and know. First let me say that Spirit, which could be my guides who assist with readings and/or loved ones around clients, work with what the Medium knows; has learned or experienced their entire life. This sets a vocabulary. As a clairvoyant, Spirit shows me itself, either in my mind’s eye or as a white light with details such as hair, face and clothing. Spirit also shows me symbols, pretty much anything you can think of, so as to provide evidence of the Spirit around the client. This is Mediumship. I am not reading the aura around someone. Spirit shows me symbols. I am not telepathically picking up the information. We all have these gifts. When you have experiences, or maybe some of you already have, you will understand.
