When in doubt, do it yourself. Makes sense, right? For the past several weeks I have been facilitating a phenomenon circle in the Colby Memorial Temple seance room at Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. The reason we Spiritualists hold these types of classes is to prove the continuity of life.
That seance room has been around since 1923. Tens and thousands of seances must have been held in that room through the years. The room is definitely charged with energy. Class members have had the honor to see Spirit, lights and transfiguration while sitting in the red light. Transfiguration is when the medium sits in meditation and others see the medium's face change. Everyone sees it, which makes it true phenomenon. Incidentally, white light dissipates the ectoplasm, which comes from the medium and others to manifest Spirit, hence the change of faces. And so finally, the class came when we did table tipping. I went into the room earlier in the day, turned the air conditioning on and said some prayers while I burned sage. Before leaving the room, I looked at that table and said, 'you had better be ready to rock 'n roll tonight.' Backstory: I've pretty much always believed that table tipping was a scam -- somehow the person leading had a way of controlling the table. I always watched closely to see if the leaders' hands were assisting it to move, or if somehow there was a contraption connected to the table. Deep down I had doubts. I did my best to keep them at bay. I wanted the night to be successful. A student and I got there early and looked under the table, even lifted one of the legs to see what was underneath. There was a piece of felt, which made sense -- no need to scuff up the floors. Back back story: The table has been in that seance room for years. It's larger and it is heavy. If I recall correctly, there are four pedestals. They say a three-pedestal table is better to use, so I always wondered why that table. Regardless, I have witnessed that table moving in the past. So, the eight of us started out sitting around the table. As soon as we put our fingertips on that table, we all felt the vibration. The table was breathing. I must admit I was excited. Finally, it slowly bounced and we went around the table asking who the Spirit was there to chat with. At one point, I said the table was going to start spinning. I saw it in a vision. I prepared the students by telling them to push the chairs back out of the way when it happened. That table spun and moved about the for at least 20 minutes. Truly amazing! I could've stayed there all night. I can now say the skeptic in me has been put to rest. If you don't believe it, try it yourself. Peace
